a site for the thousand-year history of the tenuta di cusona
Tenuta di Cusona has been making wine since before the year 1000 — the earliest document naming it dates from 994. Building a site for an estate this old, and this well known, is a problem of balance: give the history the weight it deserves without turning the place into a museum. I built the whole site so that the millennium could be felt while the navigation stayed light and current — WordPress, a bespoke theme, custom CSS and JS.

The visual balance rests on cream white and lamp black — pale as Vernaccia, dark as Chianti Classico — a strong but controlled two-colour scheme. The site presents the estate’s labels and takes bookings for tours and tastings. Light reveal animations, written in custom JavaScript, move across a strict grid that never turns repetitive.
The result has a firm character and an elegant one. Every decision — the colours, the grid, the animations — reinforces the history of the estate.
